Street artist Catman has unveiled his latest artwork today after painting a diver on Whitstable Harbour Village a day before a meeting is held on its future.

Whitstable's answer to Banksy finished the sketch which shows a Diver carrying an umbrella at 5am as he worked under darkness.

The town's harbour board is expected to discuss the future of the village after businesses expressed anger over talks for a new lease.

Traders say they want more security after it was revealed a break clause could mean they have to leave the harbour at 12 months notice.

This week, MP Julian Brazier waded into the argument to support the traders by writing to the council calling for an amicable solution to be reached.

He said he was worried the village could miss out on an £86,000 grant to fund 10 young entrepeneurs from starting a business at the harbour.

Stuart Heaver, of Kentish Trader Limited who run the village, said: "Whitstable street artist CATMAN has made his mark in the harbour on the eve of the harbour board meeting that may decide the fate of 33 local businesses.

The artist said: "Basically it is just bringing attention to the fight the Whitstable Harbour Village are in for survival and showing support for them."
