Canterbury: Club Burrito owner facing licensing review

The owner of a popular city centre restaurant and bar says he will fight to keep his licence after police and council officials accused him of flouting regulations.

Luciano Serrano, who runs Club Burrito in Butchery Lane, is facing a review hearing in front of city councillors next month.

The allegations include not doing ID checks at the door, allowing too many people on the premises, failing to have a sound limiter and not having a member of management registered as a designated premises supervisor.

Council spokesman Leo Whitlock said: “A number of concerns have prompted the police to request a review of Club Burrito’s licence.

“It is likely Canterbury City Council’s enforcement team will make representations in support of the police application.”

Mr Serrano has, however, denied many of the claims and said he has CCTV and other evidence to support his case.

The review is due to be considered by the licensing committee on February 6.
