The Local Government Boundary Commission for England carried out a consultation on the authority's proposal to reduce its elected members by 12 earlier this year.

The consultation asked residents, community groups, parish councils and political parties for their views about the plans.

Now they have been given the go-ahead, a new pattern of wards will be drawn up based on 38 councillors.

The commission will run a further public consultation about where the ward boundaries should be between Tuesday, September 24 and Tuesday, December 10.
