Cyclist airlifted to hospital after serious accident in Sturry

A cyclist was airlifted to hospital on Wednesday lunchtime after a serious accident in Sturry.

Emergency services closed the A28 between Sturry and Canterbury when a 28-year-old man was seriously injured in Mill Lane. Police arrived at 12.15pm following reports of a collision between the cyclist and two cars.

He was taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford by the Kent Air Ambulance with serious, but non life threatening leg injuries. The car drivers, both men, were taken by land ambulance to the QEQM Hospital in Margate and their injuries were not serious.

Traffic was diverted through Broad Oak and police reopened the road at 2pm.
