Preston near Canterbury dubbed April Fools capital of Kent after drunken cyclist prank appears in Elmstone village pond

Villagers were shocked to see what looked the result of a drinking session gone horribly wrong this morning.

The scene at Elmstone village pond in Preston near Canterbury appears to show an unfortunate cyclist head-first the water, with just his boots sticking out.

The half-submerged bicycle and nearby can of lager suggests the person took a wrong turn while worse the wear through drink, and suffered a watery end.

The elaborate prank appeared this morning - April 1 - but mystery surrounds who is responsible.

One villager thinks it could cement Preston's position as the April Fools centre of Kent.

He says: "This appeared in Elmstone village pond overnight.

"Most years something happens in the village, from grand to small April Fools - but no one knows who is behind it all."
