Father jumps into water to rescue teenage son in Whitstable

A dad jumped in to the water to rescue his teenage son last night in Tankerton after he was unable to make it ashore.

The boy got into difficulty at 7pm when a member of the public dialled 999. The Whitstable RNLI and Herne Bay Coastguard were tasked to the scene.

His father entered the water and tried to help him and when rescuers reached the scene they were both out of the water.

Crews gave safety advice before leaving and no medical attention was required.
