Ray Turner wants Faversham to tighten up at the back without compromising on entertainment.

Town sit seventh in Ryman League, Division 1 South – just four points off second place – ahead of their match at Merstham on Saturday.

Goals have flown in at both ends, with Town scoring 24 and conceding 26 in 13 matches.

Boss Turner (pictured) knows his side have to defend better if they are going to last the pace but he doesn’t want them to sacrifice their attacking instincts.

He said: "We’ve been involved in a lot of high-scoring matches but if we want to be in the top five or six, then we need to have a plus goal-difference as soon as possible.

"In a tight league like this, it can move you up two or three places. We need to address the number of goals we’re conceding but I don’t want to lose anything going forward.

"We’re entertaining to watch and that’s what football is supposed to be about.

"Merstham have scored and conceded plenty as well so I wouldn’t put any money on a 0-0 on Saturday."

Turner must make two changes to his defence with captain Aaron Lacy and James Peacock both serving one-match suspensions.
