Firefighters called to Covert Road, Aylesham, stop blaze by turning a tap off

Firefighters were called to a second blaze in as many days at Aylesham.

They were called to a workshop in Covert Road on Aylesham Industrial Estate at just before 9am yesterday (Wednesday) after a cylinder of Acetylene caught fire.

Acetylene is a bonding agent used as a chemical building block.

The crew extinguished the fire by turning the cylinder’s tap off and allowing it cool before returning the site to the owner.

They left the scene at just before 10am.
