Teenager arrested following rape in Canterbury

An 18-year-old man has been arrested as police investigate reports of a rape in Canterbury.

The victim, a woman in her late teens, was allegedly attacked at a house in Downs Road some time before 2am on Sunday.

She had been in the area of Station Road East before travelling by car to Downs Road.

Detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate confirmed the man arrested remains in custody.

Four teenagers arrested on suspicion of raping the woman were earlier released without charge.

However, a police presence remains in Downs Road and officers are still appealing for witnesses.
