Writing on the Canterbury Residents Group after the attack yesterday, Sarah Jane said: "I stopped and checked him. His head was so bad. It was like a horror scene. If I was his mum I think I would have passed out."

The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

It is believed he knew his attackers, who are described as teenage boys. One is said to have had a scarf around his face.
