Distraction burglar steals cash from pensioner's home in Blean

A thief claiming to be a mobile home repairer has stolen cash from a pensioner.

The 'distraction burglar' called at the owner's caravan on the Woodlands Residential Park in Blean, offering to replace the flooring.

But when he left, the victim, who is in his 70s, noticed money was missing and contacted police.

It happened between 11am and midday on Monday, May 7 and officers have now released a computer-generated image of a likeness of the suspect.

He is described as white, of medium build and around 5ft, 7ins tall with brown and grey wavy hair.

He was wearing dark trousers, a light coloured top, dark glasses and was carrying a walking stick.

Det Con Chris Bungard said: ‘While we investigate this incident, we would ask all residents in the area to be vigilant and look out for anything suspicious.

"Always check ID with cold callers and if you are not sure, don’t let them into your home.

"We would like to hear from anyone who recognises the man or has information about the alleged offence."
