Mum and child escape accosting in Northgate, Canterbury

A mother and child have escaped what police believe may have been an attempted night-time accosting in Canterbury.

It happened yesterday as the woman and her four-year-old daughter were walking in Northgate at around 6.15pm.

Investigating officer PC Robert Kipling said: "She says a man in a small silver hatchback pulled up alongside them and beckoned to the child to come nearer. She and her child moved away and the man drove off.
