Sex attacker assaults teenager in subway between Castle Street and Wincheap in Canterbury

Police are hunting a sex attacker after a teenager was assaulted while walking through a city underpass.

It is said to have happened in the subway between Castle Street and Wincheap when the offender ran into the female victim and grabbed her.

She raised the alarm at a nearby pub while the attacker made off along Wincheap towards Ashford.

It happened at around 5.30pm on Sunday, February 7 and the suspect is described as about 18-years-old, white and around 5ft 10in tall.

He was unshaven and was wearing a blue sports jacket and grey jogging bottoms.

Police Inspector Vicki Tyler said: "We are appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact police.

"This includes a man who walked through the subway towards Castle Street moments after the offence and who might have important information about the incident.

"We would also appeal to members of the public to report any suspicious incidents in the city by calling 101 – or 999 if a crime is in progress."
