Whitstable manager Justin Luchford hopes to bolster his squad with new signings in the next seven days, with former striker Ian Pulman believed to be top of the list.

The Oystermen boss is shaping his squad for next season and former Tonbridge Angels man Jake Beecroft this week agreed to return to The Belmont after joining the club for the final six weeks of the last campaign.

Luchford revealed he had spoken with Craig Cloke and Dean Hill, but was "blown out of the water" by offers from Hythe and Ramsgate respectively last week.

He said: "We’ve got a budget to work to and it’s important that I spread it around. I can’t have one or two people having much more than others."

Beecroft joins Dan Wisker and Laurence Harvey in commiting their futures to the club this week, with Stuart Vahid and Scott Heard having already agreed to return and another familiar face who could be back at the Belmont is Pulman.

The former Margate and Faversham striker (pictured) netted 30 goals last season but has told Ramsgate boss Tim Dixon of his intention to join the Oystermen.

Luchford refused to confirm a deal and merely added: "He’s a player anyone at this level would be interested in. He’s probably the most prolific goalscorer at this level."
