'Iron bar' attack in Wincheap, Canterbury leaves victim 'needing plastic surgery'

A teenager needed plastic surgery after being hit in the face with an iron bar during a brawl in a busy street, it has been reported.

Social media accounts suggest the victim was assaulted last night in Wincheap, Canterbury following a row with a man and a woman.

The 37-year-old man was said to have been waiting for a lift at the petrol filling station when the incident occurred.

Reports on Facebook suggest the injured teen was "left struggling to speak because most of his front teeth were knocked out".

He was reportedly seen by an emergency dentist before being transferred to William Harvey Hospital.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened between 7.20pm and 7.35pm.

A spokesman added: "It follows a fight involving four youths who may have been in a blue Ford Fiesta, and a 37-year-old man and 33-year-old woman."
