Astra mounts Fiesta in St Peter's Grove car park, Canterbury, after improbable reverse maneouvre

When lawyer Lucy Tolond left her car in the St Peter’s Grove car park, she knew mechanics would be arriving to repair it the next day.

But when they knocked at her St Peter’s Place home this morning, the message they had was not the one she was expecting.

They were there to tell her that a green Vauxhall Astra had literally mounted her Fiesta Zetec.

Lucy Tolond learned that her Ford Fiesta had been mounted by a Vauxhall Astra in Canterbury.

It is thought that the elderly woman driving the car had somehow reversed her Astra so powerfully that it had mounted the kerb, gone over a 3ft wall and come to rest on Lucy’s Ford.

“It’s amazing that she’s actually managed to do that because the wall is quite high,” Lucy, 37, said.

“My car was only in that car park because the mechanics were going to fix it after it hit a tyre on the M26 the day before. Still it’s only a car and can be repaired.”

The Fiesta suffered damage to its bonnet. The driver of the Astra was shaken, but it is believed that neither her nor her passenger were hurt.
