Pervert Martin Scott jailed for five rapes in Canterbury and Ashford

A man who raped a teenager and then forced her to pretend she lied when she reported the incident has been jailed for 15 years.

The attacks by vile pervert Martin Scott, happened more than 10 years ago in Canterbury and Ashford.

The former schoolgirl – who attended the hearing in Canterbury Crown Court – was praised by the judge for her courage in reporting the attacks again - despite further threats of reprisals.

Scott, 39, who was dressed in a grey suit, smirked as Judge Simon James told him he had cynically and systematically abused his vulnerable victim.

He had denied five rapes, committing a sex act with a child, sexual assault and indecent assault – but a jury found him guilty of all charges.

The judge said the victim had bravely reported the first incident but the cunning Scott convinced her parents that he was innocent.

She was then coerced into withdrawing her allegations and was forced to say that she had lied.

Judge James told him: “Far from using that as a close shave, you took it as a green light to continue the abuse, safe, you thought, in the knowledge that she would be unlikely to have the courage again to tell anyone and even if she did then no-one would believe her.”

But she did and the jury believed her.

He said Scott, who now lives in Essex, should remain on the Sex Offenders' Register for life and be restricted on his movements under a Sex Offences Prevention Order once released from jail.
