Network Rail says it is upgrading the track drainage system at Sturry station.

Community relations manager Paul Lennon said: "These improvement are a vital aspect of our strategy to provide a safe, reliable and efficient railway fit for the 21st century.

"Safety is our number one priority and for this reason work of this type must sometimes be carried out while trains are not in operation

"We endeavour to undertake work at times that cause the least disruption to train services. This means carrying out a lot of our improvements during the night and at weekends."

Pedestrians wanting to get from one side of the crossing to the other will be able to make use of a free taxi service.
