Ex-Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams poses with drag queens at Magdelene College ball

Former Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams shows his wild side - as he poses with a group of drag queens.

Dr Williams was spotted mingling at the bi-annual May Ball of Magdalene College in Cambridge where he was recently appointed Master.

Drag queens Demin were fresh from performing a headline set at the white tie event.

The cheeky photo features performers Tom Rasmussen, nicknamed Chrystal Vaginova (left), and Hugh Wyld, nicknamed Shirley Du Naughty (right), along with recent graduate Claudia Blunt and an unidentified reveller.

It was posted on Facebook and Miss Blunt joked underneath "2 toffs, 2 drag queens and the former Archbishop of Canterbury walk into a ball..."

The May Ball, which costs students £430 for a pair of tickets, was part of traditional post-exams celebration at the University of Cambridge.

The steep ticket price included a five-course gourmet meal, a host of musical and comedy acts and free champagne throughout the event, which lasted from 9pm until 6am the next morning.

Drag queens Demin, who have a cult following among students and encourage their fans to cross-dress too, perform covers of classic pop acts like Madonna and Mariah Carey alongside extravagant dance routines.
