The A28 Military Road in Canterbury has re-opened following gas leak which caused delays

Military Road in Canterbury has been re-opened following a gas leak which caused traffic delays this morning.

The busy route was shut between the Tourtel roundabout and Broad Street, near the former Dairy Crest building, shortly before 11.30am when a suspected leak was detected.

Some properties in Notley Terrace were evacuated as a precaution.

Firefighters were called to the scene and traffic built up in surrounding roads as drivers took detours.

Congestion continued until around 2pm.
