Canterbury's Lounge on the Farm music festival will be just one day and the last held at Merton Farm

The Lounge on Farm music festival in Canterbury will take place over a single day this year, organisers have announced.

It will be first time in the festival's nine-year history that it will not take place over three days. Only 2,500 tickets will be available alongside 500 camping pitches.

This year will also be the last time the festival is held at Merton Farm off the Nackington Road before it moves to a new site.

Organisers say it will revert to a three-day festival in 2015.

Acts for this year's festival have yet to be confirmed.

In a statement on its Facebook, Lounge on the Farm said: "The festival will be an exclusive, condensed version of Lounge on the Farm with the same level of great acts you would normally expect from us in the same chilled and beautiful environment.

"We are in the process of booking some classic acts, some new exciting music and the best DJs from around the globe.

“This year’s event will be the last to be held at Merton Farm, ahead of a new site being confirmed for 2015, our 10th anniversary.

“The farmer has handed over the management of Merton Farm to his son who has decided to move away from large events and concentrate on farming.

“Due to these restrictions we are jam packing all the action into one day, with limited camping.

“We are hard at work putting together a line-up that champions local talent, celebrates the stars of previous Lounges and brings a swathe of new and established artists to the rolling fields of Kent. You will not be disappointed.”

Acts such as Ellie Goulding, Chic featuring Nile Rogers, Echo and the Bunnymen, New York Dolls, The Streets, The Charlatans and the Wombats have performed in previous years.

Lounge on the Farm started out of the Lounge Originals music nights at the former Farmhouse bar in Canterbury's Dover Street.
