Man, 21, died at the scene of Chartham crash

A 21-year-old man hit by a van on the A28 died at the scene, police have revealed.

Detectives have issued an appeal for witnesses following the incident on the Ashford Road at Chartham on Friday afternoon.

The man, who was from Buckinghamshire, was struck by a Citroen Berlingo near Nickel Farm at about 2.15pm.

He had got off a white minibus moments before he was hit.

The air ambulance was called to the scene but nothing could be done to save the man.

The driver of the van was not injured.
