Landlady of the Old Wine Vaults pub in Preston Street Nuala Brenchley-Sayers witnessed some of the incidents.

She said: “I saw a man leave Wetherspoons, thump the Barber’s window and then try to break it with his elbow, over and over again.

“Then there was 30 minutes of him hitting the heritage centre window and walking around, and then he wandered up the road.

“We later saw him and another male trying the doors of the Co-Op in Forbes Road and moving around the side.”
