Nasons: Man arrested for Canterbury high street burglary

A 22-year-old has been arrested following a break-in at a Canterbury department store.

The man is being held on suspicion of burglary after he was found in Nasons at about 1.15am this morning.

The High Street store sells a range of cookware, furniture, gifts, and clothing, and has been a well-established part of town centre trade since 1962.

Police were called to the shop following reports a man had broken in through a skylight in the roof.

He was found inside the store by officers and arrested.

General manager Paul Tillman said: "He didn't do any more damage, other than the initial damage he caused by breaking in through a skylight. We don't know how he got onto the roof.

Police spokesman Steve Knight confirmed the suspect is still being held in custody.
