Samuel King charged with Canterbury rape attempt on city wall

A man has today been charged with the attempted rape of a young woman in Canterbury.

Samuel King, 24, is accused of launching the attack on the city wall at about 2.20am yesterday.

Police were called to the area after reports the alleged victim - who is in her early 20s - was sexually assaulted near Dane John Gardens.

King, who was arrested in Station Road East at 3.50am, is also accused of robbery and being in possession of a knife.

He has been remanded in custody and will appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court via video link tomorrow.
