Man taken to hospital with smoke inhalation after Canterbury bedsit fire

A man was taken to hospital last night suffering from smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in bedsit in Canterbury.

Two crews from Canterbury fire station attended a sheltered housing block in Craddock Road at 9.30pm when the fire broke out.

One man was treated at the scene for breathing in smoke and was referred to ambulance crews who took him to Kent and Canterbury Hospital.

Residents were evacuated as firefighters doused the flames.

Police say they did not attend the incident and are not investigating the cause of the fire.
