Miley Cyrus sparkles in £18 rings made by Canterbury costume jewellers Sarah Law and Matt Arnold

Racy pop superstar Miley Cyrus sent the temperature rising at one Canterbury business - because she was sporting their jewellery designs while talking on one of Hollywood’s top chat shows.

The controversial singer hit the showbiz headlines recently with her skimpy outfits and a public spat with fellow diva Nicki Minaj at the recent MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

But prior to the event, she was filmed wearing a pair of Doll’s Eyes rings on the Jimmy Kimmel show, which were created by Matt Arnold and Sarah Law at their workshop in the city.

The pair, who and run their business from their home in Broad Oak Road, set up Sugar & Vice in 2007, specialising in making jewellery from recycled materials, including plastic, metal, glass and wood.

Sarah, 32, said: “There I was minding my own business, when quite by chance I came across an Instagram post, of a regram from Tish Cyrus, Miley’s mum.

“I quickly honed in on the ring she was wearing and realised it was one I’d made at my desk only a week earlier.

“I was in London at the time and let out a scream - I could hardly believe it and got on the phone to Matt straight away who was blown away too.

“I remember getting an order for 12 rings from a buyer in LA a few weeks earlier and when I did a an internet search on the name, she turned out to be a celebrity stylist.

The Doll's Eye ring costs £13 or £18 for a pair.

“If we had been asked to compile a list of dream celebs who we’d want to wear out pieces, Miley would definitely be at the top.

“She’s a talented, eccentric, ballsy, kind-hearted, open-minded individual who also represents a lot of what we stand for so to see her in our designs is a dream come true.”

Sarah moved to Canterbury from Manchester in 2007, while Matt, 34, had studied for a science degree at the University of Kent.

She said: “We just had the same creative ideas and the business has gone from strength to strength since then. It’s largely all via our internet site but you can’t get much bigger celebrity endorsement for our sort of products than from Miley Cyrus.”
