Police chase ends in arrest after Mercedes fails to stop in Wincheap area of Canterbury

A man was today in police custody after a car chase through Canterbury.

Police on patrol in the Wincheap area of the city ordered a silver Mercedes A140 to stop at around 10.40am today.

When it didn't they chased the car, which was later dumped in nearby New House Lane.

The driver, a 39-year-old Surrey man, ran off across some fields but police chased and caught him.

He was arrested on suspicion of possession of heroin with intent to supply and is now in police custody.
