Police cordoned off St Mary's Green in Canterbury this morning

Police have cordoned off a park in central Canterbury after a suspected assault.

Officers also conducted door-to-door inquiries in roads around St Mary's Green at Castle Street following reports of an attack on a young woman at 4pm on Friday.

The park was cordoned off at around 6pm last night. Two police community support officers are guarding the scene today.

It is thought a forensic team will scour the park for evidence later.
