Power cut in Canterbury leaves more than 2,000 properties without electricty

More than 2,000 properties were left without electricity after a power cut in Canterbury.

An underground cable fault caused the lights to go out across the city shortly after 10am.

Among those affected was Canterbury Christ Church University.

Power was restored within 14 minutes, but one customer in Old Dover Road remains affected.

A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: “We would like to reassure our customer that we are working hard to get their power back on as soon as we can and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
