Two-man rave in Asda costs pranksters Discoboy and Speedo Shy £400 each in fines

A pair of practical jokers have to pay £800 in fines after a two-man rave in an Asda superstore.

Under the guise of Speedo Shy, former Canterbury Christ Church University student Shayan Shayegani and so-called Discoboy Lee Marshall, from Sturry, rolled a speaker into Asda in Huddersfield, dressed in their underwear, with hats and sunglasses, and started dancing on the checkouts to loud music.

They were greeted with looks of disbelief on the faces of shoppers and staff before being told to leave by a security guard.

The men were fined £400 each at Huddersfield Magistrates’ Court last week, but Mr Shayegani said it was worth the penalty.

He said: “I wouldn’t class it as one of our pranks, it was just a rave. We were there for about five minutes.

“Everyone seemed to love it. Even the security guard was decent, he was just doing his job. It was definitely worth it, we got two shows out of it.

“We’ve gained a good following just out of that video. It’s had over 100,000 views and we’ve got loads more on YouTube.”

The duo play tricks on unsuspecting members of the public and his friends film the reactions of people, ranging from laughter to swinging punches, and post the footage on Mr Shayegani’s YouTube channel to almost 50,000 subscribers.

Now studying at the University of Huddersfield, Speedo Shy has become an internet sensation with almost 80,000 likes on his Facebook page, while Discoboy has more than 90,000.

Mr Shayegani started pulling the Dom Joly-style hoaxes as a way to break into acting.
