River Stour in Canterbury taped off after after body found

Police, paramedics and forensics officers have descended on a street after a body was found near the River Stour.

A section of the waterway running between Stonebridge Road and Hawthorn Avenue in Canterbury has been taped off following the discovery this morning.

Emergency services were first called to the area just before midday, and remain at the scene.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to Hawthorn Avenue shortly before midday on following a report of a body in the River Stour.

"Officers are currently at the scene along with the South East Coast Ambulance Service."
