A28 in Chartham shut between Shalmsford Street and Station Road after man hit by car

The air ambulance was called to the scene of a serious accident which closed a busy road this afternoon.

The A28 was shut in both directions after a man is believed to have been hit by a car just before 2.30pm.

Emergency crews - including an air ambulance - were at the scene of the incident along the stretch past Chartham, near Canterbury.

The road has now reopened between the junctions of Shalmsford Street and Station Road.

The severity of any injuries is not yet known.
