Rush hour tailbacks after seven-car pile-up on the A299 Thanet Way near the Brenley Corner roundabout at Faversham

Two separate pile-ups on the Thanet Way near Brenley Corner are causing rush-hour delays for drivers.

Four cars are said to have collided on the coast-bound carriageway of the A299 near the busy roundabout at 4.30pm, shortly followed by another crash nearby involving three vehicles.

The road is currently blocked and police, firefighters and ambulance crews are on the scene.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 4.30pm to reports of a collision on the coastbound carriageway of the A299 near Faversham.

"The incident is reported to have involved up to seven vehicles. Kent Fire and Rescue Service are at the scene.

"The road is reported to be blocked. Two people are reported to be injured, not thought to be life threatening at this stage."

"Motorists are advised to avoid the M2 junction 7 area."
