Spate of vandalism in Canterbury linked by police

Police are linking a series of criminal damage offences on an estate which is thought to have been caused by stone-throwing yobs.

The owners of three homes in Knight Avenue on the the London Road estate in Canterbury have reported damaged windows and a door which happened overnight on Sunday and Monday.

There have been other reports on the Canterbury Residents Facebook Group of several cars being vandalised and the bus shelter glass smashed by a catapult.

Writing on the group's page, ‎Genadi Genchev‎ said: "I was on my way home from work and some 'lovely kids' threw something at me and done this to my car.

"Imagine if you driving with open windows and that hit you or your kids."

Gazza Allen said: "Had my car attempted broken into as well around midnight last night in the Forty Acres area.

Kai Preik complained that youngsters had been spitting at buses and cars in Hales Place.

But police say the incidents have not been reported to them and are urging victims of criminal damage to call them.

Police Constable Colette Todd from Canterbury Community Safety Unit said: ‘We are linking the three incidents in Knight Avenue and would like anyone who has any information about the damage to contact us on 01843 222289 or Kent Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 quoting crime reference number ZY/21140/18.’
