Londis shopkeeper tackles suspected thief in Canterbury

A shopkeeper has described how he tackled a suspected thief at his store in Canterbury.

Guru Luitel, who runs the Londis in St Dunstan's, says he caught the man trying to leave with stolen goods at about 3pm on Monday.

Mr Luitel said: "I told him 'you're going nowhere mate' and just hung onto him.

"Fortunately, other members of the public passing by helped me hold him down until the police arrived."

A 32-year-man was arrested on suspicion of theft and is in custody.
