An 8ft angling dinghy that broke down off Hampton in Herne Bay provided Whitstable lifeboat crews with their first call out in 2014.

They were called at 12.14pm and found a 17-year-old boy from Canterbury 400 yards off the Heron Angling Club.

Spokesman Chris Davey said: "The lifeboat crew took the craft and its occupant back to shore where the Herne Bay mobile coastguard unit took over."
