Teenagers stabbed in Canterbury subway mugging

A man is facing five charges after two teenagers suffered knife wounds in a suspected city centre mugging.

Dean Richards, 32, of London Road, Dover, was arrested after an 18-year-old woman and man aged 19 were reportedly stabbed in a Canterbury underpass.

They were both taken to the Kent and Canterbury hospital for treatment.

A knife was recovered from the scene shortly after the midnight attack.

Richards has been charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of wounding with intent, and threatening a person with a blade.

He has been remanded in custody to appear in court at a later date.

DCI Nick Gossett said: "This is an isolated incident and we are not looking for anyone else."
