A taste of the continent
pulled in several thousand people to the Dane John Gardens in
Canterbury for the largest ever Eurofair.

Local produce as well as delicacies
from across the globe were on offer at the three-day event, which
started on Friday and saw 110 stalls stretching into Canterbury
castle and its grounds.

The event, organised by the city
council in partnership with Produced in Kent, has been running
since 2000, but has been in its current format as the Eurofair with
the Kent Food and Drink Festival since 2007.

Visitors munched on everything from
cupcakes, cheese and chutney to sausages, sweets, and sauces, with
ciders, juices and specialist coffee on offer to wash down the much
celebrated produce.

Culture vultures weren’t left
disappointed with arts and crafts and musical entertainment on
offer, along with face painting, jousting and food
demonstrations.

Despite rain dampening visitor
numbers slightly on Friday and Sunday, council number crunchers
estimate crowds were on a par with previous years.

Canterbury council spokesman Rob
Davies said: “Feedback from visitors and traders has been very good
and there is already interest from traders for next year.

“Detailed analysis of visitor
numbers and spending both at the event and in the city centre will
be carried out over the next few weeks using the results of
questionnaires completed over the weekend.

“We’d like to thank everyone who
came along, and the residents living in the Dane John and nearby
for their patience.”
