Motorbike crash closes the A291 between Herne Bay and Canterbury

An injured biker has been flown by air ambulance to a London hospital following a crash between a car and a motorcycle this morning.

It happened shortly after 8am on the A291 Canterbury Road between Hicks Forstal Road and Sweechgate, closing the route in both directions for more than two hours.

Emergency services including an air ambulance were called to the scene.

There have been delays with drivers taking alternative routes.

The road reopened just after 10.30am.

Police say a man was arrested at the scene in connection with the collision.
