Addict dies shortly after injecting heroin in Canterbury

An investigation has been launched after a 43-year-old man died shortly after injecting heroin.

Police believe the drug, used by the man at a house in London Road, Canterbury, was contaminated.

A 41-year-old man from Canterbury has now been arrested and interviewed about the supply of controlled drugs. He has been bailed for further investigations until October 10.

It comes after police were called to the house in London Road at 11.30pm last night.

Ambulance staff helped the man after he became ill, but he was later pronounced dead.

Detective Chief Inspector Emma Banks said: "It is believed that the man may have injected heroin just prior to his death and drug users should be aware of the possibility that the drug was contaminated."
