A woman was cut from her car and taken to hospital after a collision in Canterbury this morning.

The 57-year-old driver suffered neck and back injuries after she was hit by another car near the Longport roundabout at 7.30am.

Firefighters attended the scene and removed the roof to rescue the woman who was then taken to QEQM Hospital.

Paramedic Dave Latham said the woman suffered no serious injuries.

Traffic became heavily congested after the collision with a road closure in Ivy Lane put in place.

The road was fully reopened at 8.50am.
