A woman was taken to hospital on Thursday afternoon (April 15) after her car crashed into a telegraph pole.

Emergency services were called to Grimshill Road, Whitstable at 4pm. Police closed the road as the snapped pole had pulled down overhead electricity lines, exposing cables.

Engine oil had also spilt into the road, and highways services were called to clear up the mess.

The female driver of the Nissan Micra was taken to the QEQM hospital, but her injuries were not described as serious.

After engineers from EDF Energy carried out work to the pole, they found no damage to their equipment and no customers lost power supplies.

The road was reopened at around 6.30pm.
