Kent coach Jimmy Adams is eager for his side to secure a win to kick-start their LV= County Championship Division 2 campaign when they host Worcestershire in a game which begins at the St Lawrence Ground today (Friday).

The two sides go into the game joint-bottom of the table, without a win between them, on 19 points, though Kent have played only three games to Worcestershire’s four.

Leicestershire – with whom Kent drew in the opening game – are the only other side yet to register a victory this season.

Adams said: “It would be nice to get off the mark this week. We want to win as many games as possible and we go into every game with a plan of how to win.

“Most of our squad are in a good place, there is no reason to make wholesale changes and hopefully we can get the win.”

In a season when promotion to the top-flight of four-day cricket was seen as the primary aim, Kent are already 58 points adrift of leaders Northants, who won by seven wickets at the St Lawrence Ground earlier this month, but skipper James Tredwell refuses to panic

He said: “It’s still very early days. Although Northants have made a flying start and have got on an early run, there’s nothing to say we can’t do the same.

“It would be good to get a couple of wins under our belt as quickly as possible to make sure we are there or thereabouts in the division, but you don’t want to push things too much this early.”
