Barrie Douglas had a special moment at Canterbury Golf Club when he achieved his first first hole-in-one.

The 49-year-old eight-handicapper has been playing golf since he was 14 and his first ever hole-in-one came in a Winter League competition at Scotland Hills.

Barrie, who lives in Chestfield, “aced” the 170-yard par three 5th with a 5-iron and said afterwards: “I never thought I would get a hole-in-one after playing for such a long time.

“I knew it (my tee shot) was close but you can’t see the hole from the tee and so it was a great feeling to walk onto the green and find the ball in the hole – especially as my opponent had put his tee shot close to the flag!”
