Medway & Maidstone athlete Richard Tomlinson clinches the Canterbury 10k win

Richard Tomlinson won the Canterbury 10k by three seconds from a field of 200 competitors on Sunday morning.

The Medway and Maidstone over-45 athlete was third in the Kent Masters cross country and won the Maidstone Harriers Turkey Run late last year but this is his first significant victory in an open event.

The winning time was 35min57sec from Adam Stokes (unattached, 36.00) and Simon Jones (Canterbury Harriers, 37.33) was third.

Anthony McParland (Canterbury, 38.08) was the second M40 in fourth overall ahead of Daniel Walsh (Istead and Ifield, 38.29). Dan Longhurst (Sevenoaks Tri Club, 40.26) made the top ten on this flat course alongside the River Stour.

Vicky Talbot-Rosner (Invicta, 44.56) was another over-45 master in form with
victory in the women’s race from Claire Green (Thanet, 46.49) and Andrea
Jefferies (W45 Kent AC, 47.02).

W35 Laura Woods (Sittingbourne, 47.21) was fourth ahead of Claire Wilkins
(Medway and Maidstone, 47.43).
