Kent Cricket Assistant coach Matt Walker is looking forward to a great day for the club when they host Lancashire in NatWest T20 Blast quarter-finals

Assistant coach Matt Walker is looking forward to a fantastic day for Kent when they host Lancashire Lightning in the NatWest T20 Blast quarter-finals.

Spitfires secured a home tie in the last-eight by virtue of topping South Group, despite Friday’s game against Essex at Chelmsford being washed-out.

They were drawn with Ashley Giles’ side at Canterbury on Saturday, August 15, with the game being screened live on Sky.

Walker said: “It was never going to be an easy fixture but a home quarter-final is all you can ask for. We can be proud of winning the group.”

He added: “Lancashire are a good side but any side on their day can put in a good performance or an individual can have a day-out and that’s the beauty or toughness of T20. It’s all about on the day and a result could be down to an individual or two.

“Luckily for us, we have a lot of good individuals and veterans through our side, good death bowlers and confidence.

“We know they pose a threat. They are a good side with good strikers and clever bowlers in their side. It’s going to be a great game. I’m pleased it’s at Canterbury, hopefully it will be a good wicket with a good crowd. It’s a big day and hopefully we can keep rolling-on. We’ve played good cricket in this competition.”

Lancashire coach Giles claims his side will have nothing to fear at Canterbury, saying: “Kent have had a good T20 season but when it gets down to this stage, it’s about form and confidence. We have probably played our best cricket away from home in both forms.”
