Man with gun arrested in Crayford by armed police

A man remains in custody this afternoon after being arrested by armed police following reports he had a gun.

Police were called at 5.40pm yesterday evening to Iron Mill Lane in Crayford following reports of a man seen with a firearm.

Officers, including firearms officers, attended and a cordon was put place.

Armed officers surrounded a property in nearby Claston Close and were able to make their way inside and arrest the man on suspicion of possession of a firearm.

He was taken to a south London police station where he remains in custody.

Met spokesman Aimee Young said a firearm was recovered from the house and no shots were fired.
