Swanley Asda displaying Nurofen and Lemsip painkilling drugs next to sweets including Galaxy chocolate bars, Polo mints and Yorkies

Supermarket giant Asda has come under fire from twitter users after customers spotted painkillers displayed alongside sweets and bars of chocolate.

The packs of Nurofen and Lemsip - which contains paracetamol - are pictured sharing a shelving unit with Galaxy chocolate bars, Polo mints and Yorkies, at the supermarket in Swanley.

The display has angered twitter users who have branded Asda's product positioning "irresponsible" and shared pictures of the drugs on the social network.

Twitter user Ian Duxford went so far as to tweet Asda on January 14, demanding to know why the painkillers were next to the sweets.

But despite the supermarket chain claiming it would "pass on his concerns to the store" a photo taken two days later shows neither the drugs nor the sweets have shifted.
