Alleyway between Holmfield Close and Birchwood Park Avenue, Swanley, pensioner threatened with stabbing

A brave pensioner stood up to four robbers despite being threatened with a stabbing.

The man in his 70s was confronted by the gang who told him he would be knifed if he did not hand over his money.

The victim refused and said he was going to call the police.

The thugs then fled.

The victim was accosted as he walked along an alleyway leading from Homefield Close to Birchwood Park Avenue in Swanley at 5pm yesterday.

The men ran towards Birchwood Park Avenue.

The suspect who spoke to the victim was tanned, aged 23 to 24, 6ft 2in, of stocky build and wearing a blue anorak and blue jeans.

The other three were white and wearing brown clothing.

The victim did not see a knife.

Police are treating the incident as an attempted robbery.
